Merry Christmas and happy new year 2010

Thank you for a year of blessing, of new friends made, hearts reaching out across continents, and time to come visit me. I have loved every second of it!

In the coming new year we continue to grow in our friendship, and meet often in front of these screens with more projects and exciting hand embroidery works to share and enjoy.

Wish you all a happy merry christmas
and
happy and fabulous and prosperous new year 2010.

Happy crafting and take care,
Sumy Sunil

Embellished version of salwar kameez

Look at the post here without embellishing.

After embellishing with jamki’s, there is a huge difference. Check this out?

A nice wall hanging

This work has been done by my MIL. It is a handicraft which includes a mat and needle and threads. One has to just follow the color and instruction given with the kit.

Is it not beautiful?...

Design on plain salwar kameez-8

Here is another project that i've done on a plain brown color salwar kameez.

I started with a plan of stitching parsley motif which I saw in one of the website which I don’t remember right. Thanks and courtesy goes to that great stitcher.

But then I somehow didn’t like the outcome. It was good that I started near the neckline..Even if I do something wrong, this will not get displayed as the neckline will get covered anyways with dupatta. I didn’t want to remove it as well.

Then I decided to try a different pattern and I stumbled upon this stitch named chemanthy.

I tried 2 different variations of this stitch.

Tutorials are here.

I joined these chemanthy flowers with running stitch embellished with some jamki here and there.

Please let me know your feedback on this.

The Picturesque box...

The Box which contained my whole collection of embroidery threads..You want to know where i got it from...From USA....

See how lovely it is...i believe it tells a story which i don't know...But it is lovely and I've not disposed it just for the sake of this lovely cravings on them.

Look at this....

Did it tell a story? If yes, please lemme know. I'm curious to know the story behind this....especially the visitors from USA....

My treasure hunt continued...

Remember I was nattering about opening my untouched box/shelves in past few posts. This weekend i opened one of the box which were kept on the laft. And guess what i stumbled upon....

A box with lotsa of threads....lots of them.. different colors.

I don't remember having purchased so many threads.........

I was thinking thinking hard from where i would have got this huge collection of threads.....I donno...I don't remember...I'm sure it would have been purchased almost 8 years back...Becoz, it's been loonnnnnnnng time since i've touched this part of the art....

But still, so much of threads...I don't believe this...

Last month also, i brought some 10-15 threads and this one adds to the bin...Hope my DH does not check out this post.....LOL...Anyways, he can't help it now..after all the hard earned money has been invested already!!! ROFL...

The story continues...about the box.........

Hats off to him...

Totally amazed...good observation and artistic skills

Pink Panther clay model of my DSon - Amazing Creativity

When i returned from office, my son eagerly rushed towards me at the doorway and pulled my hands into the living room to show his piece of art work..I asked him "What is this?"..He says "Pink panther"...his favorite show on TV...(Mine too!!!)..It was indeed a masterpiece..I just dropped my handbag and lunch bag to grab my camera and click click and click..my usual style....

It is really amazing that my son has so much talent in him. He is very good in making animals using clay..I'm very happy and thoroughly bowled over by his creativity. I'm a proud mother.

Will post later on his creativity with blocks and all...

A gift from my Dear Husband from Delhi

Surprise, Surprise, Surprise!!!

I got a gift from my DH from Delhi..He is in marketing profession so he gets to travel a lot all over India...Good for him to see all places...but it is the professional hazard, he signs...yeah, very true...He eats out whereever he goes, sleeps less..and ends up in stomach upset or fatigue after he is back home...

This time, he has to take his German Boss around the country..So he got one for him and one for me...

Lemme stop the nattering and let us look at some beautiful work that has gone into it...

It has 2 holders...

Lots of stitching....

Patchwork...

Enjoy viewing.....

Now whenever my DD sees it, she asks me "Why Acchan (father) buys only for you?.."..And fights with me saying that Acchan has got for me and not you...and she wants to take it to school...yeah, yeah...She is unaware of the fact that she will get to use it later....

Design on Pillow cover by me

I was cleaning up my shelves this weekend, my usual routine..not only to clean but also to acquaint myself what are the things kept in which shelves , where and when !?!?!...I keep many goodie goodie things saved, preserved and …My DH hates it…”you not only keep all the things, adds to it and never disposes it..this house is full of things”….What to do? He got used to it…

I found this piece of work, which I believe I’ve done some 6-7 years back..and it really surprised me..

(design in the 4 Corners)
The work is not finished yet at the centre...

Anyways, have alook at it..It is only done with satin stitich and stem stitch.
